Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is located on Panda Avenue, Chenghua District, Chengdu. Founded in 1987, it is a national 4A-level tourist attraction and a world-famous base for the ex situ conservation, scientific research and breeding, popular science education as well as cultural tourism of giant pandas. Simulating the native mountain bamboo forest ecological environment of giant pandas, the base covers an area of 3,570 mu and boasts the world’s largest captive giant panda population.

The base has long tackled scientific research challenges including giant panda breeding, cub rearing and disease prevention and control, and continuously carries out giant panda conservation, wildness training and public ecological popular science activities. The park consists of the Old Zone and the Infinite Hills New Zone, with core areas such as the Sun Delivery Room, Moon Delivery Room, Juvenile Giant Panda Villa, Panda Tower and Giant Panda Museum. Visitors can watch giant pandas foraging and playing at close range, meet the internet-famous giant pandas Hua Hua and He Ye, and also spot rare animals such as red pandas. ⚠️ Important Tips

1. Try to enter the park in the early morning, as giant pandas are most active in the morning.
2. No flash photography, tapping on the glass or loud noise.
3. It is strictly prohibited to feed giant pandas privately and throw any items into the exhibition area.
4. Selfie sticks and drones are prohibited in the park.
5. There are many ramps in the park. Please wear comfortable sports shoes.
6. Do not disturb the giant pandas that are resting.

💡 Key Reminders

1. Do not trust unlicensed roadside tour guides. Their offers of "paid close-up panda feeding and holding pandas" are all scams.
2. Food prices within the park are relatively high; you may bring your own drinking water.
3. Giant pandas are rarely seen active outdoors at noon in summer; they are more likely to engage in outdoor activities on rainy or cloudy days.
4. Long queues for sightseeing vehicles during holidays; enter the park early to ride first.
