Located on the banks of the Jialing River in Chongqing’s Yuzhong District, this national AAAA-rated tourist attraction is a landmark of Chongqing. It was formerly Hongya Gate, one of the 17 gates of Chongqing’s ancient Ming Dynasty city, with a history of more than 2,000 years. The scenic area features Ba-Yu-stylestilted buildingsas its architectural centerpiece. Built into the cliffs and following the mountain terrain, it comprises 11 interconnected levels with a total height of 79 meters, earning it the nameChina’s Cliffside City. This creates a remarkable landscape: Binjiang Road is outside the first floor, while Cangbai Road is outside the eleventh floor—both levels have roads directly outside their entrances, perfectly showcasing Chongqing’s magical 8D mountain-city terrain.
When night falls, tens of thousands of lights illuminate the tiered pavilions, creating a dazzling display of light and shadow and earning it the reputation of a real-life “Sky City.” The district brings together mountain-city cuisine, folk cultural and creative products, riverside-view terraces, and distinctive shops. Visitors can admire the stilted buildings, enjoy views of the Jialing River, and savor Ba-Yu flavors, making it a must-visit landmark in Chongqing.
